$30,000 as a second-year grant for the dance troupe’s three-year strategic growth plan. (Total support of $70,000 in 2016-17.)

A Brush with History, Inc. d/b/a The Brush Art Gallery and Studios
$10,000 in start-up support for an arts therapy program at Megan’s House, a recovery home in Lowell for young women battling addiction.

Cultural Organization of Lowell
$10,000 in inaugural support of Creaticity: Lowell Art and Maker Festival, to be held in Downtown Lowell in September 2017.

Emerson College
Boston, MA
$25,000 for ArtsEmerson’s Cambodian Festival, showcasing Cambodian film and performance art, with special outreach to Lowell residents.

Hellenic Culture and Heritage Society, Inc.
$7,000 for the Lowell Bicentennial Oral History project, which will chronicle the stories of city leaders active from the 1980’s to the present.  A selection of these interviews will be presented in book form to coincide with Lowell’s bicentennial celebrations in 2026.

Lowell Festival Foundation
$25,000 in second-year support to raise outside support for the Lowell Folk Festival and Lowell Summer Music Series.  (Total project support of $100,000 in 2016-17.)

Lowell Heritage Partnership, Inc.
$50,000 for implementation of the Lowell Waterways Vitality Initiative aimed to provide lighting and other enhancements throughout the city’s 5.6 miles of canals.  The large-scale project is a collaborative effort of the Lowell Heritage Partnership, The City of Lowell, and the Lowell Historic National Park.

University of Massachusetts Foundation, Inc.
Lowell String Project
$25,000 in capacity-building support for the String Project, an after-school string orchestra program for Lowell children and youth.

$10,000 in startup support for Met(ta), a documentary film showcasing integrative, cultural competent health care at the Metta Health Center in Lowell and the Street Level Health Project in Oakland.

Health Law Advocates, Inc.

$50,000 in support of the organization’s Mental Health Advocacy Project for Kids in Lowell, an initiative to provide humane care for court-involved children and youth and their families.

Lowell Community Health Center, Inc.
$140,000 in final capital support for the Health Center’s campaign for a new building. (Total support of $1 million in 2010-17.)

Lowell House, Inc.
$125,000 in capital support as the agency relocates to space within the Lowell Community Health Center. Under the leadership of Coalition for a Better Acre, Lowell House’s original Merrimack Street site will be converted to sober apartments for adults recovering from addiction.

$37,500 in continued support for the Church’s emergency assistance program for Lowell individuals in need, as encouraged by the will of Theodore Edson Parker.

$25,000 for the Secure Jobs work development program, which serves homeless and recently-housed adults in the Greater Lowell region.

Community Teamwork, Inc. f/b/o African Community Center
$25,000 in second-year startup support to launch and sustain a community center for African immigrants and refugees living in the Greater Lowell area. (Total project support of $35,000 in 2016-17.)
